Tell us what you’d like to to hear more of

In September we will be continuing with our series of classical music podcasts.

To help us produce content that interests you, we want to know what you would like to hear more of, and how you think should we theme our podcasts? Guide through the eras of music; following orchestra members throughout the series or beginners guide to music – anything at all. Just let us know by leaving a comment below.

Thanks for your help!

  1. This is not really a reply – I wanted to leave a comment about classical music, so I’m leaving it, here, as this is the page that came up when I pressed that link:
There doesn’t seem to be much classical orchestral music or chamber music on over the summer at the Southbank, and I would have thought that was a kind of international language. It is lovely to have different culturally-based concerts and events, and I really enjoy going to them, but I also miss being able to go to classical concerts.

    • Thank you for your comment Meg. Our classical music season runs from September through to June where we host over 150 concerts including international orchestra, piano and chamber music seasons plus a substantial programme from our resident orchestras. The summer is typically a quieter period for classical music at Southbank Centre while we host shows and summer festivals. In line with other venues, the tradition is for venues to have a quieter period for classical music during the summer whilst the music festivals take place such as the Edinburgh Festival and The BBC Proms. Our summer festival this year, Festival Of The World, did include two big classical music festivals- we had a four-day festival in June called Sounds Venezuela with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela including over 50 free events and also a four day festival in July with Bass-baritone Bryn Terfel. We are currently gearing up for the new classical music season launching in September and hope you are able to join us then for a packed season of classical music. Thanks again for your feedback.
