Opera Super star Bryn Terfel kicks off his four-day festival, BRYFEST next week at Southbank Centre. With a surprise appearance at the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra encore last night with Gustavo Dudamel, we can’t wait for his performances in The Golden Age of Broadway (4 July) and An Evening of Opera Classics (5 July).

The Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra brought our Sounds Venezuela four-day festival to a close, performing their final concert last night at Royal Festival Hall. Dudamel and his orchestra treated our audiences to Esteban Benzecry’s Rituales Amerindios and Richard Strauss’ An Alpine Symphony. The live stream of this concert will be available soon- watch the space.
The Southbank Centre’s Sounds Venezuela festival, part of Shell Classic International came to a spectacular end as Opera super star Bryn Terfel performed a roof-raising encore with Dudamel and the orchestra ahead of his four-day festival next week BRYNFEST.
BRYNFEST celebrates the marvellous bass-baritone Bryn Terfel and the culture of Wales. Bryn performs everything from musical theatre to his favrouite arias in a series of concerts from 4 – 7 July. Fancy a night of toe-tapping songs from the golden age of broadway? Experience the power of opera with drama, betrayl, tragedy and love with Bryn Terfel and special guests. Our weekend of free events, workshops and performances is almost finished! We have had a fantastic couple of days exploring the power of art and music to change the world. We have had great responses from loads of people who were here to take part, including this blog on Sinfini Music. On the matter of Saturday’s concert, The Guardian said that Dudamel displayed “ instinctive virtuosity” and Bachtrack commented that “the power he brought to the music was astonishing”.

The Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela have arrived at the Southbank Centre and we are all getting very excited!
Following an amazing concert last night in Stirling (which you can watch on BBC iPlayer until 28 June), the Orchestra is taking up residence with us for ‘with us for four days, from 23 – 26 June.

Composer David Braid and pianist Sergei Podobedov will appear together on BBC Radio 3′s InTune programme on June 29th ahead of their forthcoming concert at Southbank Centre. The show starts at 4.30pm that day but will also be available on iplayer.
David will be discussing his recent work and Sergei will be performing ‘Lyrical Toccata’ one of the ‘Three Pieces for Piano’ that feature on David’s new CD with Toccata Classics: ‘Chamber and Instrumental Music’, Please see: http://bit.ly/LaTRXo for details of the new disc, which will be released next month.
Sergei will also be performing some movements from Schumann’s Carnaval, which he will perform in full at David Braid’s forthcoming CD launch concert at the Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall, on Monday 2nd July at 19:45.

We are pleased Camila Batmanghelidjh, Founder and Director of the charity Kids Company can join us for the Festival of the World Summit: Art will change the world on Monday 25th June. Kids Company regularly demonstrate the power of creativity to change the lives of young people and have recently collaborated with the Royal Academy of Arts on the “Child Hood – The Real Event” exhibition.
